FIND THE RIGHT TIRES AND WHEELS FOR YOUR CART

Choose tires based on the surface you drive most often. Street tires favor comfortable rides on pavement. Turf tires help limit damage on lawns and maintained grass. All-terrain tires use deeper tread for gravel, dirt, and uneven ground.

We can help compare tire dimensions, intended use, load ratings, and wheel fitment. The correct setup depends on the make, model, and condition of your cart. Explore additional golf cart parts and accessories.

STREET, TURF & ALL-TERRAIN TIRES

Street tires use tread suited to paved roads, neighborhoods, and other smooth surfaces. They generally produce less tread noise and vibration than aggressive off-road tires.

Turf tires are designed for lawns, golf courses, and maintained landscaping. The tread helps distribute traction while limiting surface disturbance, although driving habits and conditions still matter.

All-terrain tires provide added traction on loose dirt, gravel, and rougher paths. Larger versions can require extra clearance. Check the tire’s load and inflation specifications before buying.

UPGRADE YOUR GOLF CART WHEELS AND RIMS

Custom wheels can change the look of your golf cart without replacing the entire vehicle. Common golf cart wheel diameters include 8, 10, 12, and 14 inches. Options may include black, machined, and polished finishes.

Wheel appearance is only part of the decision. Bolt pattern, rim width, offset, tire pairing, and load capacity must suit the cart. A mismatched wheel can rub a suspension component or cause steering interference.

Ask about matching wheels to your existing suspension or coordinating them with our golf cart upgrades.

UNDERSTANDING GOLF CART TIRE SIZES

Golf cart tires use several sizing systems. For example, a tire marked 18×8.50-8 is approximately 18 inches in overall diameter, 8.50 inches wide, and designed for an 8-inch wheel. A size such as 205/50-10 uses a metric tread-width and aspect-ratio convention.

Two tires that fit the same wheel diameter can differ in total height. Check the entire tire size, manufacturer specifications, load rating, and available clearance. Kenda’s published golf cart tire specifications are a useful example.

DO BIGGER TIRES REQUIRE A LIFT KIT?

Not always. Some modestly larger tires fit a standard-height cart. Others may contact the body, frame, steering, or suspension during turns and bumps. Tire width and wheel offset matter just as much as diameter.

Taller tires also change the cart’s effective gearing and may reduce acceleration or climbing performance. For an oversized setup, consider whether a compatible lift kit is needed. Our upgrade services page covers additional customization options.

WHEN SHOULD YOU REPLACE YOUR GOLF CART TIRES?

Look for tread wear, cracks, sidewall damage, bulges, vibration, uneven wear, or frequent air-pressure loss. Florida heat and sunlight can age rubber even on carts that see relatively little use.

Inspect the rim and valve stem when replacing a tire. Inflate only to the applicable cart and tire manufacturer specifications, without exceeding tire limits. The NHTSA tire safety guide explains general inspection principles.
